Marc Sumerak is a freelance comic book writer from Cleveland, Ohio .

Marc is currently best known for his work on Marvel Comics' all-ages Power Pack series (of which he has written five consecutive 4-issue limited series), as well as the Eisner Award & Harvey Award nominated Franklin Richards: Son of a Genius (with co-writer Chris Eliopoulos). He is also currently providing the English translations for Spider-Man J (featured in the bi-monthly Spider-Man Family series).
He agreed to answer 5 Quick Questions.
1) What would you say is your greatest achievement in comics?
Honestly, just having regular work in an industry that I love so much is the greatest achievement I could possibly imagine.
But if I had to pick a specific project that really makes me proud, it'd have to be my recent run on MARVEL ADVENTURES: SPIDER-MAN. Being able to write for the webslinger was a dream come true!
2) Who was your favorite writer or artist that you worked with & why?
The former editor in me never likes to pick favorites... but I will say that I have been fortunate enough to work with a number of talented folks over the years. Artists like Casey Jones, Mike Hawthorne, GuriHiru, David Williams, Mark Robinson, Tim Seeley, and too many others to possibly list here. Each of them brought something really special to the projects that we collaborated on... and I couldn't be more thrilled to have had them draw some of the stories that came out of my brain!
3) What character you have never worked .., would you like to do & why?
I would love the chance to write a few issues of Thor some day. He's always been a favorite character of mine, and it would be a real honor to add something to his mighty Marvel mythology.
4) Who are your influences?
Lee & Kirby, of course. The unbridled creativity contained in those early FF issues is so inspiring. More recently, guys like Busiek, Bendis, Waid, Johns, Brubaker and Vaughan never cease to amaze me.
5) What hero or villain would you like to change if you could and why?
To me, it's not about changing the character... it's about boiling them down to their core, finding what makes them work, and bringing that into the spotlight. Most of these characters have withstood the test of time for a reason. Some of them just need a small reminder why!
