MARVEL STUDIOS OFFERS IRON MAN FANS
A CHANCE TO OWN A PART OF THE FILM
To celebrate the release of IRON MAN 2, fans of the blockbuster film IRON MAN will be able to own props and costumes seen in IRON MAN when Marvel Studios makes them available to the highest bidder at an auction held during C2E2 (Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo) at McCormick Place in Chicago, April 16 – 18, 2010. Tony Stark’s Convoy Missile, the Hero Schematic Drawings of Mark I drafted inside the cave, Hero Completed Mark I Mask and Iron Man Hero Mark II RT Unit will be among nearly 225 IRON MAN props made available at the auction produced by Propworx Inc., the leading provider of high-end auctions for the film and television industry.
Those unable to attend the live auction in Chicago will be able to take part online in real time at www.propworx.com/ironman. Following the live auction in Chicago, other IRON MAN collectable items will be made available to fans on eBay.
“It is always great to involve our fans in the making of our films and now we have the chance to allow them to take a piece home with them,” stated Jordan Hudson, Marvel Studios’ Director of Production Operations. “IRON MAN has already proven to resonate with moviegoers all over the world and now each of them has the chance to own some of the greatest items seen in the film just a few weeks before the continuation of Tony Stark’s adventures in IRON MAN 2.”
Earning over $585 million in worldwide box office, IRON MAN lifted off in theatres on May 2, 2008 with high-speed, high-flying action when jet-setting industrialist Tony Stark survived an unexpected attack in enemy territory and escapes by building a high-tech robotic suit of armor. When he uncovers a nefarious plot with global implications, he dons his powerful armor and vows to protect the world as Iron Man. Straight from the pages of the legendary comic book, IRON MAN is a hero who is built—not born—to be unlike any other.
The highly anticipated sequel, IRON MAN 2, starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, John Slattery, Mickey Rourke and Samuel L. Jackson., will be released on May 7, 2010 in the U.S.. In addition to IRON MAN 2, Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including THOR on May 6, 2011, THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA on July 22, 2011, and THE AVENGERS on May 4, 2012.

ICv2 publisher Milton Griepp will present the company’s Comic Industry White Paper at C2E2 on Friday at C2E2 at McCormick Place in Chicago, the company announced today. The annual ICv2 White Paper, which has been presented for the last four years at New York Comic Con, is the definitive source of information each year on the comics business. Highlights include:

Manga market size estimate
Underlying trends and dynamics
Outlook for 2010
“We’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to present our White Papers at New York Comic Con for the last four years,” Griepp said. “C2E2’s launch this spring made it the perfect venue to release this year's report.”
ICv2’s Comic Industry White Paper is sponsored this year by Reed Exhibitions. “In the past, we’ve been able to support our work on the White Paper through our Conference at New York Comic Con,” Griepp explained. “With C2E2 taking over that slot in the calendar, we needed a new way to support our annual report on the industry. Reed stepped up to the plate with their sponsorship.”
“I want to thank Reed for sponsoring the Comic Industry White Paper,” Griepp said, “Presenting the White Paper at C2E2 will be a great way to kick off this new show in Chicago, and we’re happy to be a part of it.”

About Top Cow Productions Inc.
Top Cow Productions, Inc. (www.topcow.com), a Los Angeles-based entertainment company, was founded in December of 1992 by artist Marc Silvestri, who also co-founded Image Comics earlier that same year. Top Cow currently publishes its line of comic books in 21 languages in over 55 different countries. The company has launched 20 franchises (18 original and two licensed) in the industry’s Top 10, seven at #1, a feat accomplished by no other publisher in the last two decades. Its flagship franchise, WITCHBLADE, was TNT’s #1 original film of 2000 and the subsequent TV series was released on DVD on July 29, 2008. A feature film, co-produced by Platinum Studios, Inc. and Arclight Films, is slated to begin production in Australia with director Michael Rymer. WITCHBLADE is also the first American property to be fully adapted in Japan as an original anime and manga by Studio GONZO in 2006. Top Cow’s other flagship property, THE DARKNESS, was developed into a major next-generation video game release by Starbreeze and 2K Games and achieved platinum sales status. WANTED, an Eisner-nominated miniseries published by Top Cow from 2003-2005, is now a major motion picture from Universal Pictures starring Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman. Virtually all of Top Cow’s other properties are in development as feature films, live-action television, animation or video games. Top Cow has also successfully licensed and merchandised its franchises into toys, statues, clothing, lithographs, puppets, posters, magnets, shot glasses, lighters, lunch pails, wall scrolls, mouse pads, die-cast cars, calendars, Christmas ornaments, Halloween masks, trading cards, standees, video games and roleplaying games.

Leading EventOrganizer Extends Pop Culture Influence; Seeks Fans in World Communities
Reed Exhibitions, the world’s leading organizer of trade and consumer events, has today announced that it has acquired the Singapore Toy, Games&Comic Convention (STGCC). Launched in 2008 and owned and operated by local event planner PI Events, STGCC is a strategic fit for Reed Exhibitions, which has an existing office in Singapore, and which has consolidated a team of professionals in its North American office to work exclusively on pop culture events. The new pop culture team will work closely with the Reed Exhibitions Singapore staff as well as maintain a strategic partnership with PI Events to stage a preeminent event in the Asian market which fits with other events in the Reed pop culture portfolio, including New York Comic Con (NYCC) and the soon to be launched Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2). The last STGCC took place in August, 2009. The next STGCC will take place from December10-12, 2010 at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre (www.suntecsingapore.com).
“This acquisition is the first step in our far reaching commitment to service pop culture fans all over the world by building quality events which bring enormous attention to the pop culture community, and open new markets for our exhibitors” notes Lance Fensterman, Group Vice President for the Reed Pop Culture Group. “We want to spread the currency of cool to regions all over the planet. We have a team in place that is wholly devoted to pop culture and which shares in the passion of the community, and we have the support of a company that is not only committed to the growth of our business, but which has offices, staff and resources around the world. We are eager to work with our colleagues in Singapore to make the next Singapore Toys, Games&Comic Convention a massive success and a dominant show in Southeast Asia for years to come.”
Underscoring the significance of this development for the pop culture community, Kuo-Yu Liang, Vice President of Sales&Marketing for Diamond Book Distributors, the world’s biggest distributor of English-language comics and pop culture products, states: “Singapore is one of our biggest export territories and it is also the gateway into the fast growing Southeast Asia and UAE markets, home to hundreds of millions of young fans who love pop culture. The fact that Reed is making this market more accessible is fantastic. It significantly enhances our opportunity to know our customers and to grow our business in this important part of the world.”
STGCC doubled in size at its second showing in 2009 and went from a 2 day event to a 3 day event, including a full day of conference sessions. “While it’s early to announce details of our plans for 2010 our intention is to build on what has already been successful at STGCC, while bringing in some new ideas that have worked for us on some of our other shows,” Fensterman continues. “Notably, we want to take advantage of the unique location of Singapore, being at the crossroads of Asia, and build a show with broad appeal and which combines the best of the East and the West.”
Michelle Lim,Managing Director Reed Exhibitions Singapore, says: “We are thrilled to be staging a Con in Singapore and we look forward to welcoming customers from the US. We are confident that Asian fans will be attending STGCC to discover new pop culture brands and content. With the emergence of a strong network of budget airlines in Asia providing affordable travel for over 500 million people in a four-hour radius from Singapore; the staging of the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in August 2010; and the opening of two integrated resorts – Marina Bay Sands and Resort World tying up with Universal Studios this year, we expect Singapore to be a destination of choice and a top draw for many Asian markets. STGCC will certainly provide fertile ground for US companies wanting to raise their profile and brand awareness among the fans in Asia.”
Reed’s pop culture business has grown rapidly since New York Comic Con was launched in 2006. NYCC itself has grown to become the second largest pop culture event in the world, and other major shows are being launched or have been added to the Reed pop culture portfolio through partnerships. The pop portfolio now includes: Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2), PAX East&West,Star Wars Celebration V, New York Anime Festival, and UFC Fan Expo. “We are building our presence domestically as well as internationally and the number of shows we have added to our portfolio certainly speaks to this rapid growth,” Fensterman concludes. “We will be making more announcements in the near future.”
ABOUT REED EXHIBITIONS:

In 2008 Reed brought together over seven million industry professionals from around the world generating billions of dollars in business. NEW GOLD KEY COMICS PROGRAM AT C2E2!
LEGENDARY CREATORS JIM SHOOTER AND MIKE RICHARDSON TO RE-INTRODUCE FANS
TO THESE ICONIC SUPERHEROES
Dark Horse and Classic Media announced today that this weekend’s C2E2 convention will be the launch for the much-anticipated new Gold Key Comics program. Fans will have the chance to meet Dark Horse President Mike Richardson and creator Jim Shooter, and gain insider information on what to expect from this summer’s upcoming releases. News of the line was first announced at San Diego Comic Con International 2009, and fans have been anxiously awaiting details ever since.
“Jim and I share a great affection for these terrific characters. We have some very exciting ideas on how to introduce them to a whole new generation of fans.” said Mike Richardson, president of Dark Horse Comics. “C2E2 is just the beginning.”
“I've done this long enough to know when it feels right -- and it does -- so there's a chance, at least, that it is. I stand on the shoulders of giants like Manning, Newman and Du Bois,” said Jim Shooter. “On top of that I've had terrific support from Mike Richardson and Senior Editor Chris Warner, plus great art from Bill Reinhold and Dennis Calero. Overture, curtain, lights...!”
In addition, throughout the C2E2 weekend, Dark Horse will announce the creative teams and more titles in the works for Gold Key. Then, the new line will kick off in print only a few weeks later, on Saturday, May 1st, as part of Free Comic Book Day, and fans can look for exciting promotional Apps on iTunes in early May.
Doctor Solar, the first title in the line, will arrive in stores this summer!

In case you had the misfortune of missing the Archaia panel at WonderCon yesterday, here’s a brief list of what we announced. Each will be followed by their own press release later this week.
• Red Fraggle and her puppeteer, Karen Prell, will be making a live appearance on Free Comic Book Day (May 1, 2010) at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles to celebrate the release of Archaia’s MOUSE GUARD/FRAGGLE ROCK FCBD FLIP BOOK. They will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to perform, sign autographs and take pictures with fans!

• Archaia will publish a new science fiction mini-series, CRITICAL MILLENNIUM, coming out in June from writer Andrew E. C. Gaska and artist Daniel Dussault. It is in Diamond Previews this month. Here’s the solicitation write-up:
One thousand years of mankind’s rise and fall in space! To avert the path all thought unavoidable, a bold group of explorers takes the first steps toward leaving Earth’s solar system. Their quest: new worlds to colonize, so that humanity may yet have yet a chance at survival. Led by philanthropist Thomm Coney, and utilizing an untried star-drive, the team is scorned by the world’s government and canonized by its citizens. And even getting off the ground, they soon realize, may be the most difficult task ahead…
In issue #1: The Future: Mission’s End… A ship on the verge of collapse, its captain maddened by the depths of space and the darkness in his heart. A glimpse into the final voyage of the Black Rabbit—humanity’s hope for survival—reveals the lonely fate of Captain Coney as he encounters a strange energy field on the edge of the universe, and the creature within—an ancient being that will stop at nothing short of his soul…
• Archaia will publish two OGNs for BERONA’S WAR, created by Anthony Coffey and Jesse LabbĂ©, starting in July with BERONA’S WAR: FIELD GUIDE. A Preview Book will be available in comic shops in three weeks. Here is the solicitation write-up for the FIELD GUIDE:
From the minds of artists/storytellers Jesse LabbĂ© and Anthony Coffey comes this epic tale of two adorable, fur-covered races doomed by their own escalating violence! The Ele-Alta and the Cropones wage war over the island of Berona’s most desirable piece of real estate: the land called Amity. Cute and cuddly on the outside, but ferocious to the core, these fuzzy fighters will continue their bloodshed no matter the cost!
The Berona’s War: Field Guide provides a great introduction to the world of Berona’s War, featuring maps, devious strategies, weapons, character and troop descriptions and the history of wartime events. This is the perfect primer for the upcoming Berona’s War: Fight for Amity!

• Archaia announced the artist for LUCID, the first comic project coming out as part of their partnership with Zachary Quinto and his production company, Before the Door Pictures. The artist is 20-year-old Anna Wieszczyk (Ah-na Vy-check). Written by actor Michael McMillian (“True Blood,” “What I Like About You”), the series will launch in August, with advance copies for sale at the Archaia booth at San Diego Comic-Con in late July. LUCID is set in a world where magic exists and centers on Matthew Dee, a combat mage who serves as the U.S. President’s first line of defense!
