The Last Crusade in 3 ¾” Indiana Jones Action Figures

Whether your preference is Indy from Raiders of the Lost Ark or the newest installment of The Kingdom of a Crystal Skull, no one can deny that Indiana Jones and the characters of friends and foes from Last Crusade are a treasure in and of themselves. The newest characters from Hasbro’s Indiana Jones 3 ¾” figures introduce the hunt for the Holy Grail and the secrets that the Grail Knight keeps. Travel the globe and make the choice between immortality and deadly consequences. But there is no need to hunt too hard because Indiana Jones and the rest of the characters in Last Crusade have already achieved immortality in the 3 ¾” scale.

Dr. Henry Jones
After suddenly fleeing a Zeppelin airship, Indy and his father find themselves stranded on a beach, assaulted by heavy fire from a German Air Force plane, and out of both ammunition and places to hide. Inspired by a quote from Charlemagne, Henry Jones uses his umbrella to scare a massive flock of seagulls into flight. The gulls swarm around the attacking plane, disorienting the pilot and causing the plane to crash.

Colonel Vogel
This German army colonel acted as commander in charge of his country’s efforts to possess the grail. Backed by the historical knowledge of Dr. Elsa Schneider and the funding of the American multi-millionaire Walter Donovan, Vogel’s shrewd mind and merciless heart landed Indiana Jones and his father in constant peril.

Young Indy
On a desert excursion, young Indy sneaks away from his Boy Scout troop, discovering a band of treasure hunters who have unearthed a valuable artifact: the cross of Coronado. Convinced that the cross belongs in a museum, not in the hands of looters, Indy steals the artifact. The treasure hunters pursue him on a dangerous chase through a circus train, in which Indy takes his first crack at brandishing a whip.

Grail Knight
This knight spent seven hundred years in a remote chamber in the desert of Alexandretta, achieving immortality by drinking from the grail, which he had sworn an oath to protect. Once discovered by Indiana Jones, the knight stands aside as Indy and his two rivals attempt to choose the true grail from a table of deadly imitations.

Dr. Elsa Schneider
In the final challenge to possess the grail, Elsa volunteers to choose the true grail from a table strewn with deadly imitations. She chooses a golden, bejeweled cup for her benefactor, Walter Donovan, who drinks from it deeply, eager to taste immortality. Unfortunately for Donovan, Elsa’s choice proves to be either poor or malicious, as he swiftly ages until reduced to a pile of ash.

Indiana Jones
At Castle Brunwald, a German army intelligence base, Indiana Jones crashes through a window to rescue his father, Henry Jones. When three German soldiers discover Indy’s presence, they threaten the Joneses with a machine gun, demanding the missing grail diary. Despite being outnumbered, Indy overpowers the officer, using the officer’s own machine gun to eliminate him and his two men.

Kenneth writes: "What happened? Matthews, Cariello and Cassaday were doing such a fine job on The Lone Ranger & Tonto then along comes Paul Pope. I find it difficult picturing The Lone Ranger and/or Tonto as drawn by Paul. Story was very good but the artistry needs some modification so we can identify our heroes. Although a LR fan since the early years I shall continue but, please, make some changes so we can identify our beloved LR and Tonto.
Nothing happened there Ken, and our core creative team is hard at work on issues 12-15. Paul came in to illustrate the "fable" portion of our story, not even drawing any of the central cast… for a different take on Paul’s contribution, see the excerpt of Marc Mason’s review below!

DYNAMITE IN THE NEWS:
RED SONJA #32 (Broken Frontier): "Red Sonja has proved to be a daring title, taking the opportunity of a character’s death to more deeply explore who that character is and what she represents. If you think you know Red Sonja, think again. Ortega and others are proving that the character is more than she seems and certainly there is more to come before Sonja and Charon finish their journey."
THE LONE RANGER #11 (The Comics Waiting Room): "The upcoming re-start of a film franchise for the Ranger was in the news again recently, and while mention of this book was absent in those stories, you have to hope that intelligence will shine through and that the property will use this work as a foundation. The characters have never been this interesting or compelling, and the comic has been tailor-made for screen adaptation. If you haven’t read it, this is a pretty good place to start."
TIME WARP (Wall Street Journal): “Yet some Golden Age characters seem to be making a comeback. In the past few months two publishers, the industry giant Marvel and the small independent Dynamite, have launched titles that resurrect heroes from nearly 70 years ago and drop them into the modern world.”More at: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB120848306949325167.html Read more...

MARVEL TEAMS WITH AWARD-WINNING SCI-FI GREAT ORSON SCOTT CARD, BRINGING TO LIFE HIS BEST-SELLING CREATION-- ENDER'S GAME COMICS COME TO MARVEL

ENDER’S GAME COMICS COME TO MARVEL

New Comic Series Presenting the Multi-Award-Winning Collection of Novels, Overseen by Card Himself

Marvel Comics to Launch First Issue in Fall 2008

Marvel Comics, a division of Marvel Entertainment, Inc., and Orson Scott Card announced at the New York Comic Convention this weekend that the award-winning novel series ENDER’S GAME will be published as a comic book series thru Marvel’s Best-Selling Authors line. The first limited series installment, ENDER’S GAME, will be adapted by comic book and animation writer Chris Yost, drawn by Pasqual Ferry, and overseen by Card himself. This highly anticipated project debuts in comic stores in the fall.

“ENDER’S GAME and ENDER’S SHADOW are my most popular novels, and for many years I've withheld them from adaptation until the conditions were exactly right,” says Orson Scott Card. “I've worked with Marvel for several years now, beginning with the ULTIMATE IRON MAN series, and I trust them to do superb work. They understand the stories; they know how to translate them into graphic-novel form; and nobody has higher standards of professionalism. In short, now is the time, and Marvel is the publisher to bring Ender and Bean to life in the visual media.”

The comic series will mark the first visualization of the best-selling sci-fi epic in which the world’s most gifted children are taken to Battle School to prepare them for the fight of their lives—and to save humanity from its greatest threat! It is the tale of an unassuming young boy named Ender Wiggin, who will rise up to be the greatest warrior and leader that the human race has ever known. This saga follows Ender and his friends as they grow to become the last hope and line of defense for all of mankind.

“Given the successful relationship we’ve developed with Orson Scott Card, we’re thrilled to have ENDER’S GAME—which is considered by many to be the finest work of science fiction--come to Marvel,” says David Gabriel, Senior Vice President of Sales and Circulation, Marvel Entertainment, Inc. “The Best-Selling Authors line, which includes works by Card and Stephen King, has brought more new faces into comics retail shops than any other initiative since the Death of Captain America!”

In addition to ENDER’S GAME, Marvel will concurrently publish the companion series, ENDER’S SHADOW. These two series comprise a sci-fi saga which has won countless awards and influenced generations since it debuted in 1985, including back-to-back wins for the Hugo and the Nebula award. Card is the only author to have won both awards in consecutive years.

“The sheer amount of energy, dedication, imagination, poignancy, and skill that Orson Scott Card brings to the craft of storytelling is phenomenal--as we’ve already seen in his penning the ULTIMATE IRON MAN comic series. Marvel is once again on the crest of an incredible moment in graphic fiction publishing, and fans of compelling fiction are sure to be thrilled,” said Ruwan Jayatilleke, Vice President of Development, Marvel Entertainment, Inc.

Tor Books, Orson Scott Card's publisher for more than 25 years, is delighted to announce the publication of a new Ender novel, Ender in Exile, for late 2008. Ender In Exile is a direct sequel to Ender's Game; it follows Ender Wiggin and his sister Valentine on their journey to Earth's first colony world. New York Times bestselling author Orson Scott Card is one of the most exciting science fiction writers to emerge in the last 25 years. His signature novel, Ender's Game, and the Ender Series and Shadow Quartet series that followed, have successfully crossed genre lines placing Card at the top of his field. Ender's Game alone has sold more than a million copies since its original publication in 1985, and has been translated into nearly twenty languages. The entire sequence of novels remains in print, winning new readers every year. In 2007, Tor Books published A War Of Gifts, a short novel set during Ender's time at the Battle School, and in April 2008 released Keeper Of Dreams, a massive collection of Card's short fiction.
