On September 15th the X-Men are back in two brand new to DVD releases X-men: The Animated Series Volumes 3 & 4. After the success of Vol.1 and 2 last spring Buena Vista Home Entertainment has continued the series with the two spectacular volumes. Volume three contains fifteen episodes from the third and fourth seasons of the show, with volume four containing the remainder fifteen episodes of season four. We can only assume at this point that they will finish the series with a fifth volume containing the final twelve episodes.
Really every episode from this series can be considered a fan favorite but more noticeable in these collections are the four part Dark Phoenix Saga as well as the four part Beyond Good and Evil Saga. We get to see all the classic mutants at some point in this phenomenal series. Created by Larry Houston and Frank Squillace, and produced Marvel and Saban Entertainment the episodes offered in these collections are sure to please and entertain.
The audio & video quality is the same as that of the first two volumes. Episodes have been enhanced minutely but enough that it does add to anyones personal viewing enjoyment making the overall experience quiet pleasant on a high-def television. Also the further we go into the series the more you will notice a slow steady improvement on the actual animation quality.
X-Men is something for all ages. Kid and teens will love the action and adventure, while adults will appreciate the well written episodes and how some of them follow the comics, along with all the hidden adult humor. And of course, everybody will appreciate the top-quality animation created by some of the greatest animation studios of the day and everyone will love the nicely drawn characters who bear great resemblance to the X-Men of comic book artist Jim Lee. Over all these are two must have DVD sets for any X-men fan, but also will make great gifts to give to the future generations of X-men fans.
