Comic Review: Irredeemable #5 (BOOM! Studios) By John H

The enemy of my enemy is my friend?

How would you deal with betrayal? Not the “I gave you bad stock tips” type of betrayal, not even “I slept with your best friend” type of betrayal. I mean the type of betrayal so deep that you can never see yourself redeeming that person: ever. Now imagine if that person had been a herald of good intentions before their fall became responsible for the death of millions, could we find it in our hearts to forgive them?

As you should know by now, that is exactly the premise of Irredeemable #5. Here, the beloved hero the Plutonian has gone rogue and in the end no one is safe, not even his old allies from the superhero team known as the Paradigm.

As the various members of the Paradigm search desperately for any weakness the Plutonian might have, Qubit, the intellectual of the Paradigm, tries to go a different route. Just as Sherlock Holmes had Professor Moriarty for a nemesis, the only Super villain that ever made the Plutonian feel fear was that of Modeus, a cyborg of unknown origin.

Having constructed various androids over time programmed with Modeus's brain patterns, Qubit seeks to find the displaced nemesis, in hopes of gaining help from the one place he never thought possible. The rest of the Paradigm cannot believe Qubit would sink to this level, but what else can they do against the even greater unstoppable evil the Plutonian has now become? But perhaps the world’s only salvation lies within a member of the Paradigm itself, and the secret they are keeping from everyone else.

This comic gets better and better, I hope they try and keep this one going as long as they can! The art, story, and dialogue all are A+.

Do not miss out this series guys, because it is well worth the ink on the page!
