In 1990, at the start of the boom of licensed comics, Dark Horse began publishing Terminator. Now, on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the first Terminator film, Dark Horse is excited to announce the return of all new Terminator material for a whole new generation of fans!
With renewed interest in the property in both television and film, Dark Horse announced today its intent to begin creating new comics for release in conjunction with the film’s silver anniversary in 2009.
Rand Marlis, President of Creative Licensing Corporation who represents all Terminator tie-ins, said “I’m thrilled to be once again working with Dark Horse. They are a superb comic book company and really know the Terminator world. Our prior Dark Horse comics are classics and we look forward to more quality stories and art from the Dark Horse team.”
Dark Horse president and publisher, Mike Richardson stated “We've had great success with the ongoing saga of Sarah and John Connor in the past, and the worldwide interest in Terminator has us eager to begin a brand new series picking up where we left off.”
The publisher went on to say that the storyline is being developed and the creative team will be announced shortly.
Dark Horse’s successful Termintor Omnibus Vol. 1 & 2 are currently available at a retail price of $24.95.
New York City, November 5, 2008— The Daily Bugle is reporting that, despite winning the popular vote, Stephen Colbert did not win the United States Presidency in the Marvel Universe, with Democratic nominee Barack Obama triumphing.
When questioned by the media regarding the confusion, Marvel Comics EiC Joe Quesada said, “We completely forgot the Marvel Universe reflects what happens in the real world...Ooops, our bad.”

As you can see the MattyCollector.com team has been busy getting ready to roll out new product and brand pages for 2009. The Masters of the Universe Brand page is active now with new figures being added as the months trek on. Look for the latest news and updates right here on MattyCollector.com.
In addition, we have the first of our figure stands available today for purchase. Stands for DC Universe Justice League and DC Universe Classics are now ready to order in our online store. (Infinite Heroes stands are coming soon BTW!)
We are especially proud of the work the design team did on the JLU stands. Each stand was created to hold a figure one of three ways in order to be compatible with as many characters. (keep in mind not every figure will work on the stands, and larger characters like Solomon Grundy™ won't need a stand at all!)
Hope you enjoy and we'll keep these collector products coming!
ReelArt president Michael Hudson came to Dark Horse with a proposal for a new imprint under the Dark Horse umbrella. Sequential Pulp Comics will transition well-known pulp properties into traditional American comics. Fredric Brown’s Martians Go Home and Otis Adelbert Kline’s Swords of Venus will be the first two properties to receive this treatment. Both properties are licensed directly from the authors’ estates and will feature contributions from such industry stalwarts as Bruce Jones, Martin Powell, Mike Ploog, Eduardo Barreto and Thomas Yeates. Longtime comics writer and editor Christopher Mills will serve as Sequential Pulp’s editor-in-chief.
ReelArt’s president Michael Hudson is a lifelong comics fan and collector whose interests have always been outside the superhero mainstream. His passions have been lost civilizations, detective noir, sword and planet, science fiction, horror, jungle tales, and even western stories.
States Hudson, “Aside from the very few big names such as Doc Savage, the Shadow, Conan, and Tarzan, I’ve just never understood why so many of these, in my opinion, wonderfully exciting tales have never been transitioned into comics. ReelArt has not been a company that follows the same path as others in collectibles, and I thought, ‘Why not follow that same path in publishing?’ There are a lot of stories I want to tell.”
The books will be released as full-color, twenty-two-page stories on a bimonthly basis. “Our plans at this time are to introduce our line in San Diego next year,” states Hudson. The books will be marketed by Dark Horse Comics as a specialty imprint in late 2009. In addition, Dark Horse Entertainment will represent these projects to Hollywood studios for big-screen adaptation.
Hudson says, “I’m amazed at the number of calls we’ve received from folks wanting to be a part of this. After we get these first two books up and running our plans are to venture into other genres. I love a good story and there are so many waiting to be told. Dark Horse is an amazing company, well managed and staffed with people who love what they do. The company has stood the test of time and has never forgotten its roots. With a sales and marketing staff that is second to none, unparalleled product quality, like-minded business principles, and a matching love for pop culture, I couldn't imagine a better union for our new venture.”
Dark Horse president Mike Richardson states, “Michael Hudson and ReelArt Studios have produced some of the finest products in the business. We’ve been very pleased with our existing relationship and are excited by the prospect of expanding our partnership to the printed page. Comic fans are going to see a slate of amazing original projects.”Read more...

Hasbro took some time out to answer some questions:
1) What is the street date for the Wall Crawling Spider-Man, shown at Toy Fair 2008?
Spider-Man Wallcrawler will not be available in 2008.
2) With the Wal-Mart & Target exclusive wave, a lot of collectors are feeling frustrated. Usually due to limiting the wave to one store, and thus making them extremely hard to find. Is Hasbro planning on continuing this practice, or will they branch off into other outlets like Toys-R-Us, K-Bee, or K-Mart?
Don't be frustrated - you're an agent of SHIELD and you must perservere! The cases weren't limited, but the first wave of inventory did sell through incredibly fast. Not to worry, replenishment is on the way. You should see re-stocks in the next couple of weeks. Fury out.
3) Distribution with both Target & Wal-Mart has been horrible. Some locations getting a lot of the new wave, while other have none. Will you do anything to change this? Any suggestions for the collectors out there?

4) The shelves are overloaded with Hulk & Iron Man movie merchandise. And they barely seem to be moving from the pegs. Can you consider not to have so much produced for the next couple of Marvel films?
Hulk and Iron Man are both box office monsters! You will definitely see a build up of this product on shelf as we're right smack in the middle of DVD launch for both properties. Don't forget that kids and parents are no doubt going to be looking for both of these guys as the holiday season approaches.
5) There have been complaints on the price hike for Marvel Legends. Are there plans to lower the price? And why is the price much higher now? Also Rumor has it that Hasbro is finished with BAF figures after the Nemesis wave. Are there any plans to include bases like the old Toy Biz figures did?
Pricing is actually ultimately set by retailers, but there are several factors that have generally contributed to rising prices over the past few years including the rise in material, manufacturing and shipping costs. It can also be said that in order to offer a Build a Figure as large as FOOM (the Largest Legends BAF ever), prices have to be higher than the standard BAF's. If you compare the price of Marvel Legends to other 6" BAF lines in the marketplace, you should find that the pricing is comparable.Read more...
